The Role
We are currently recruiting a Device Project Lead to join us permanently in our Liverpool office.

Embark on a thrilling journey with us at Imperial Brands, Working within the Device Development Team and reporting to the Head of Device Development.

As role holder you will act as technical expert with the ability to lead cross functional teams.

You will work on New Product Development projects within the R&D pillar of the Innovation function whilst playing a key part in device development for all new product development projects.


Principle Accountabilities

  • Working within a team of Device Development Engineers to develop and deliver prototypes and technical solutions for innovation projects including.
  • Lead the technical core team on critical projects with the EVP and HT space.
  • Leading product developments from a technical point of view for the entire device development team
  • Managing the prototype design, iterative development, and testing activities to validate these concepts leveraging the capabilities of the team (mechanical engineers and technicians)
  • Manage third party relationships as appropriate: Build partner ecosystems to support portfolio/programme needs. Support and assesses third parties mandated for device development and manufacture. Leverage third party capabilities and assets for project/programme outcomes.
  • Support Team Managers and mentor multidisciplined engineers within the team to help build internal skills/capabilities.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experienced in leading cross functional technical teams e.g. Mechanical, Electrical Firmware, Software and Test and additional workshops driving innovation and addressing challenges
  • Multiple full product developments completed (full lifecycle) and experience leading projects
  • Ideally Prince 2 or PMP qualified
  • High level of competence in planning and risk mitigation with large/critical R&D projects
  • Experience in creating and leading a validation plan to ensure the reliability of the products
  • Proven history of working with suppliers and partners from concept generation to preproduction
  • DFMEA knowledge and ability to create and chair DFMEA review meetings with crossfunctional team
