We have an exciting opportunity to join our amazing Community Services Team as a Dementia Coordinator.


The number of people living with Dementia is rising with there being over 900,000 people currently with a Dementia diagnosis in the UK, with over half of these, still living within the community in their own homes.

The number of people living with Dementia is rising year to year. 209,600 people will develop dementia this year alone.

Working to give people living with Dementia a meaningful life and supporting them and their families through this difficult time has never been more important.


You will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and implementing uplifting and meaningful activities for Jewish people living with Dementia and their families.


Our current provision consists of Memory Way Cafes and Singing for Memory which are regular in person gatherings where people living with Dementia and their family carer can enjoy stimulating, welcoming and meaningful activities together.

Working closely with volunteers and community professionals to run and build upon our existing offering of activities, whilst looking to implement new exciting and innovative programmes for people living with dementia, across the community.


As ambassador for Dementia across the organisation and the wider community, you will deliver up-to-date information and training, striving towards a Dementia friendly community.


What you will be doing:

  • Managing and delivering community dementia existing and future programmes and activities, including Memory Way Café, Singing for Memory, Singing Together, Active Minds and implementing new services.
  • Planning and overseeing growth and expansion of Community Dementia activity across both the community and care home settings
  • Attending the Community Dementia programmes and contributing to dementia forums across London and the South East on a regular basis.
  • Managing volunteers delivering programmes and assisting the volunteer's team in recruitment and training of volunteers and retaining volunteers.
  • Delivering meaningful sessions for our clients living with dementia.
  • Working collaboratively with local authorities ensuring that surrounding communities are dementia friendly

What you will need:

  • Qualification or equivalent experience in Dementia or Health and Social Care.
  • Experience of working with people living with dementia in a personal or professional role.
  • Experience of working with volunteers or having volunteered yourself
  • Experience of organising activities
  • Understanding of needs and challenges of people living with dementia and their families.
  • Management and organisational skills, with the ability to work within tight deadlines and budgets
