Investigator (Solution NMR Spectroscopist):

We currently have a vacancy in our spectroscopy group for an NMR spectroscopist focussing on solution-state NMR spectroscopy.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join an NMR-focussed team within a multi-disciplinary analytical department, delivering expert solution-state NMR support to a range of projects from discovery phases through development phases to marketing.

Applications in small molecules, oligonucleotides, protein therapeutics and drug products will all form part of this exciting role.

_ In this role you will:_:

  • To work as part of an NMR spectroscopy team within a wider analytical department, to provide NMR spectroscopy analysis and interpretation for drug substances and drug products through project lifecycles from Discovery through Development to Marketing
  • To actively work in global, multidisciplinary project teams including analysts, chemists, formulators and others to solve problems by the most effective route, using a knowledge of other key analytical techniques, especially mass spectrometry, vibrational spectroscopy and computer modelling
  • To troubleshoot experimental and instrumental problems
  • To comply with the requirements of Quality, Safety and GSK policies and procedures and ensure that GSK intellectual property is protected
  • To contribute as part of a diverse and dynamic department to delivery of all aspects of work contributing to progression of the portfolio, including critical digital and databased objectives

Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Proven track record of use of NMR in the study of organic/biological materials
  • Proven track record of developing novel NMR methodology in the pharmaceutical (or related) industry
  • Knowledge of stateoftheart NMR techniques and instrumentation
  • Strong communication, project management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve with a track record of generating high quality data and reports
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively build networks and relationships that instil confidence, trust and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience in optimising, developing and troubleshooting NMR methods
  • Experience or knowledge of protein therapeutics development
  • Experience in regulated GxP laboratory working, including an understanding or experience of method validation requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of Digital, Data and Analytics principles, tools and approaches, and ideally experience of implementing such tools and workflows
  • Matrix Team and/or project leadership skills
  • Knowledge of other structural analysis techniques and the way to use these techniques complementarily, e.g. vibrational spectroscopy (IR, Raman), solidstate NMR, XRPD, single crystal Xray diffraction, mass spectrometry, etc
  • Selfmotivated flexible approach with good organizational skills and ability to communicate in a scientific manner.
  • Successful record of influencing, mentoring and developing colleagues.
  • Experience in the preparation of regulatory dossiers
