The role will have the benefit of a hybrid working approach and the use of a number of Age UK Staffordshire locations/facilities following agreement.

Job Purpose

  • Ensure high quality, evidence based care interventions are provided to customers, clients and stakeholders by a professional and capable team

  • Generate, present, discuss, agree and mobilise creative and innovative solutions in line with the organisations strategic and business objectives

Duties and Responsibilities

General Management
Responsible for continuuously improving and transforming care services so they match organisation and stakeholder objectives:

  • Contractual obligations and financial targets are achieved
  • Care services are suitably staffed and delivered by a well motivated & qualified team, who's focus ensures evidence based practice, continuuous improvement, efficiency and effectiveness is at the heart of delivery
  • Client needs are being met and individual outcomes are being achieved through positive, progressive and measurable intervention
  • Utilising sector based best practice and customer insight to inform and shape interventions focussed on increasing Age UK Staffordshires presence within the lives of older people and their families/carers
  • Collaborate with fellow SMT members to introduce improvements and address business challenges through joined up approaches

Day Opportunities


Within Day Opportunities ensure all staff members contribute, to the best of their ability, to maintain high standards of care and the creation of an atmosphere conducive to the best interests of clients.


  • Undertake customer assessment processes, including complex care reviews, resulting in customer centric services that achieve positive outcomes for all who engage with Day Opportunities
  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals, including regular Review Meetings with Commissioners, focussing on service development, performance and client care
  • Ensure Day Opportunities reflect current/relevant regulations and legislation in terms of Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Care Management
  • Manage the reporting of incidents/accidents and risk mitigation within areas of responsibility, ensuring proactive and remedial action is taken and lessons learnt are understood/cascaded
  • Undertake Risk Assessments where necessary
  • Ensure consistent practice is developed, implemented and adopted wherever Day Opportunities are delivered
  • Develop and mobilise income generation opportunities based on population & geographic need with an emphasis on growing Self Funded delivery
  • Work with the Board Champion for Intervention & Income Growth
  • Ensure Team Leaders and Day Opportunity team members access relevant training and development that reflects statutory/contractual and best practice requirements

Safeguarding


To be the organisational lead for Safeguarding, ensuring policies, guidance and practices meet current requirements with these being understood and embedded across the organisation.


  • Ensure safeguarding issues are managed in line with agreed procedures and reported to the Safeguarding Hub. Lessons learnt are cascaded/understood and any change in knowledge is quickly and effectively communicated
  • Maintain a Safeguarding Log and working with the Board Champion for Safeguarding report exceptions and issues to the CEO and Board as required
  • Maintain an organisational and personal commitment to high standards of safeguarding through required/relevant training and development

Business Development and Insight


Using insights, data and information to identify opportunities for interventions that mirror the Enhancing Later Years Continuum ensuring their relevance and sustainability within priority locations.
