Purpose of the Role

Ensure the efficient operation of the housekeeping department, including overseeing the domestic assistants, providing training and guidance, assigning daily tasks and staff schedules, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations (COSHH), maintaining cleaning standards, and managing the department's budget.

Act as the Housekeeper's backup when necessary to ensure the department runs smoothly and complies with all procedures.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Supervise housekeeping Assistants, manage performance issues, oversee quality control, health & safety (COSHH) compliance, budget management, training, staff schedules, customer complaint resolution, and overall departmental operations.

  • Ensure high-quality cleaning standards
  • Implement and maintain health & safety protocols (COSHH)
  • Manage purchasing and budgeting
  • Provide training to staff
  • Organize staff schedules
  • Handle customer complaints efficiently
  • Keep the Housekeeper informed about the department's operations
  • Assign, oversee, and perform cleaning tasks based on schedules
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of equipment
  • Report maintenance needs promptly
  • Ensure a safe environment for all
  • Monitor and manage cleaning supplies
  • Record keeping and report writing
  • Order necessary cleaning products
  • Participate in meetings with Housekeeper/Centre Manager
  • Availability required on one weekend per month

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated team management experience in Housekeeping
  • Thorough understanding of cleaning techniques
  • Proven first-line management skills
  • Ability to build customer relationships
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety regulations, COSHH, and British Institute of Cleaning Standards (BICS)
  • Strong organizational and customer service abilities
  • Capability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations
