Are you a team player with a great attitude? Do you have legal, insurance, claims handling or customer service experience and are looking to build a career in a growing team? If you are keen and quick to learn, we will show you the rest. Join our friendly, supportive team in our Uninsured Loss Recovery team. The role will offer exposure to a variety of work from day one of the case which will include initial investigations. Thereafter, the role will be to manage those cases until they are ready to be transferred to a claims handler for future conduct). Meet Ian who heads up the team. Key Responsibilities

  • considering liability by assessing evidence and establishing responsibility
  • establishing contact with all parties and maintaining pre-legal communications
  • evaluating each claim and pro-actively obtaining quantum documentation
  • helping to manage incoming post on cases prior to their transfer to the claims handling teams
  • sending Letters Before Action (LBAs) to third parties; these are standard letters which are held on a case management system
  • assessing and collating any relevant documentation to support the claim
  • subject to experience, the role may include handling of discreet elements of our claims portfolio through to closure
  • making appropriate use of telephone and litigation
  • maintaining client relationships e.g. informing them on the progress of a claim and taking new instructions over the phone, by email or letter and liaising with them where appropriate to help document the claim
  • carrying out general administration to include archiving, billing, case management
  • maintaining case files in accordance with office procedures
  • continuing support for claims handlers as appropriate
  • inputting of data and general system updates as required
  • carrying out any other duties that are in keeping with the role

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • ideally, a minimum of 3 months' recent experience in legal, insurance, claims handling or customer service roles.
  • previous experience in using a case management system is ideal however, not essential
  • confidence with IT systems to include Microsoft Word and Excel

Key competencies you will need:

  • the ability to prioritise well and produce a high standard of work in a volume environment, sometimes under pressure, whilst maintaining accuracy and good attention to detail
  • strong organisational skills whilst maintaining team processes and procedures
  • a pro-active approach in documenting and handling tasks and cases
  • the ability to cope and respond to sudden client demands
  • good communication skills, good telephone manner and the ability to discuss and negotiate matters on the telephone
  • an analytical, problem solving approach

Meet the team:

Our niche Uninsured Loss Recovery team, part of the Corclaim super-team, consists of specialists who focus solely on recovering uninsured losses for businesses in the public and private sectors who have sustained loss or damage to property resulting from the actions of others. We recover these costs and losses from the "at fault" party or their insurers. We have particular expertise in the application of the Road Traffic Act, European regulations in relation to vehicle insurance and all matters relating to the Motor Insurers Bureau so far as these matters relate to the recovery of damages.

Our clients include retailers, construction companies, utility providers, hire operators, logistics businesses and any business that operates its own vehicle fleet or has exposure to property risks and can provide repeat / volume instructions. In the last twelve months we have handled almost 7,000 cases, issued 2,700 legal proceedings and recovered £6.9m of client damages.
