Band 4 Practice Educator Assistant


Due to national investment in health care support worker recruitment a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our Practice Education Team for 37.5hrs per week.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about education and has a willingness to develop within this setting.


This role will be to support the planning and delivery of the healthcare support worker programme and provide assessment, advice and pastoral support for bands 2-4 in the clinical setting as well as supporting the wider Practice Education team.

The successful applicant will support all aspects of Education and Corporate Learning, e

g:

care certificate, moving and handling training, clinical competency, practice and assessment of competence, delivery of clinical practical training programmes, projects and initiatives, along with other day to day education and corporate learning activities.

The post holder will be required to work with supervision, having support to manage own workload and schedule. They will be required to abide by the Trusts policies and procedures.

The post holder will be expected to communicate with:

  • All staff across the organisation.
  • Patients and the Public


Using a wide range of communication methods, including verbal, non-verbal and written, to interact with a variety of individuals including patients, carers, and members of the multi-professional team in a manner which is safe, effective, compassionate and respectful.


The post holder may be involved in communicating sensitive and on occasion distressing information under the direction and supervision of the practice education team.


The post holder will work under the direction of the practice educators, arranging and delivering formal clinical training sessions and events such as the care certificate and other developmental programs or training as required as well as providing support to learners in practice and pastorally.


The post holder will be required to make formal presentations to groups of varying size ranging from a - 1 basis up to groups of 100.


The post holder will have regular patient contact when working with learners and this will include carrying out personal and clinical care.


The Post Holder will be required to evaluate work, undertake clinical supervision, and provide training and development to Bands 2-4 staff.

Work with the Practice Education team to:

  • Support the delivery of the care certificate program.
  • Work alongside Bands 24 in the clinical setting to assess and advise them in the delivery of direct patient care within the scope of their competence.
  • Maintain appropriate systems for measuring aspects of staff training.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate agreed training in line with Trust Education Strategy and Corporate objectives.
  • Participate in the planning of the training provision for the Trust.
  • Assist in the design, development, and facilitation of blended learning activities.
  • To assist the Practice Education team in reviewing competency compliance information and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the relevant service areas to ensure agreed targets are being met, and to take appropriate action as necessary.
  • Provide general clinical practice advice within scope of role, support and guidance to frequent enquires relating to clinical practice procedures, published competencies, policy and procedures.
  • Assist in the implementation of assessor roles within service areas and provide support for staff to fulfil this role.
  • Assist in the audit and evaluation of the training undertaken by key trainers.
  • Assist in the development of action plans where competence for Bands 24 has not been achieved in a range of clinical skills. This will include providing direct feedback to staff members where they have failed set competences for clinical practice and liaising with managers.
