The Role


We are recruiting for an Environmental Higher Apprentice to be based within the Sustainability & Environment function located at our site in Port Talbot, South Wales.

The position will initially report into the Head of Environment, TSUK Operations and will support and contribute to the Sustainability & Environment Team's objective of ensuring that Tata Steel UK (TSUK) manufacturing operations meet the requirements of company's environmental policy, comply with permit conditions and relevant environmental legislation and achieve continuous environmental improvement, in a technically robust and cost effective manner.


Work will involve supporting and contributing to the identification, development, implementation and continuous improvement of appropriate environmental processes to ensure ongoing compliance with the statutory obligations and all other relevant environmental legislation.

Additionally, supporting the development and delivery of the TSUK environmental strategies to effectively ensure that the compliance and continuously improvement with statutory obligations and ISO 14001 certification is maintained.


There will be an opportunity to develop detailed knowledge and understanding of data management processes and techniques working closely with the Environment team, to support with the continuous improvement of appropriate processes to ensure ongoing compliance with the statutory obligations and all relevant legislation.


The Apprenticeship


During your higher apprenticeship you will study towards a NVQ Level 4 or higher (to be agreed on appointment) and an IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management.

All our higher apprentice programmes commence in August/September 2023.

To be considered for this apprenticeship you will need to have at least 5 GCSEs or equivalent (including English Language, Maths and Science) at Grades A* - C or level - 9

AND
You will have a keen interest in Complex data analysis, reporting and problem-solving
