We have an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to join Torbay Council's Housing Standards and Environmental Protection team as a Senior Environmental Health Officer/Senior Environmental Protection Officer.
You will be working with a team who are dedicated and passionate about protecting the health, safety and welfare of Torbay's residents.
By delivering a full range of Environmental Protection interventions, as described in the Job Description, you will contribute to making Torbay a healthy, happy and prosperous place for all.
We are seeking an experienced, suitably qualified, dynamic and forward-thinking individual with the technical skills to deliver both traditional and creative Environmental Protection interventions whilst supporting the team in their day to day work and development, taking a lead responsibility.

SkillsEssential:
- Ability to review technical reports from desktop studies, intrusive investigations, remediation strategies and verification reports with regard to residential and industrial redevelopments.
- Ability to see tasks through to a successful conclusion to ensure objectives and deadlines are met.
- Able to present verbal and written information clearly and concisely.
- Initiative and commitment with a flexible approach to work.
- Diplomatic and persuasive.
KnowledgeEssential:
- Up to date knowledge of Environmental Protection, Anti Social Behaviour and Housing Standards Legislation.
- Working knowledge of Environmental Protection inspection techniques, notice preparation and enforcement.
- Degree/Diploma in Environmental Health (or alternative relevant qualification).
- Able to demonstrate effective work programme delivery through co-ordination of work.
- Proven or demonstrable track record of successful work within Environmental Health or related field.
- Experience of supervising staff.
