The project:

We're looking for individuals to join our growing Highways team in Hampshire. Works are valued between £350K - £150mil and will include civil engineering, highways and transportation infrastructure development related construction works. We're interested in hearing from applicants of intermediate and senior level.

Key Responsibilities

Leading the delivery of major projects or programmes of works throughout the planning, design and implementation stages.

Develop, implement and manage a programme of work or major project, to respond to and deliver a service Board objective or major programme.

Recommending the technical and competence skills requirements and resource options, within internal and external resource constraints, to deliver a programme of work, or major project within an agreed timescale.

Consulting with Councillors, stakeholders, and members of the public over the development of transportation schemes to ensure all views and options are considered.

Provide information and expertise to inform senior management teams and Service Board decisions on the strategy for their programme or major project.

Preparing reports and project appraisals to Executive Members, as appropriate.

Identifying, collecting and monitoring project resources, progress and financial information.

Evaluating and monitoring engineering concepts / solutions to ensure the scheme objectives are achieved to current design and safety standards and within current national, departmental, environmental and political standards.

You'll also have:


•Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant field.


•Post qualification experience in a relevant field.


•Good project management skills and experience within Highways and Transportation.


•Advanced written and verbal communication skills.


•Good knowledge base on transportation and planning topics and policy generally.


•Good understanding of highway and traffic engineering standards and best practice.
