Nursery Practitioner

Babes in the Wood is seeking a fully qualified Nursery Practitioner to join our team in Stonehaven.

Duties include:

  • Planning:
  • To develop, implement and work as part of the staff team to provide high quality learning experiences, based on a childcentred approach and working within the early Years Curriculum framework.
  • To ensure that all required paperwork is completed timeously, correctly and shared with the relevant people.
  • To act as a Key Worker for children with additional support needs and contribute to their Child Plan and plan for their individual needs.

Managing Operations:

  • To be aware of and work within the standards and requirements of the Care Inspectorate, HMIE and the local Education Department.
  • To attend to the immediate/basic needs of children when injured/sick, maintain first aid/medical equipment and records
  • To undertake hygiene duties for babies and children including toileting, changing nappies and clothing and clean up children who have been sick
  • To be responsible for the reporting of maintenance and the follow up to ensure completion of tasks and a safe working environment for all.

Managing People:

  • To work as a member of the Nursery Team and establish good and effective relationships with the children, staff and parents.
  • To be responsive and adaptable to the needs of the children.
  • To act as a keyworker for a group of individual children and families.
  • To contribute to the support of volunteers and students.

Managing Resources:

  • To create a welcoming and calming environment for all children.
  • To ensure the maintenance of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds and stages of development. -To implement health and safety standards, ensuring that the playroom and equipment are kept in good order and repair.
  • To organise and supervise age appropriate activities to encourage the emotional, social, physical, creative and intellectual development of the children.

Managing Information:

  • To have a sound knowledge of child development 0-5 years and be able to respond to the differing needs of individual children.
  • To ensure observations, assessments, reporting and recording procedures are carried out.

  • To report to parents on children's progress
  • To adhere to all Nursery Policies and Procedures, including attendance at staff meetings To ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 20-40 per week

Salary:
From £10.80 per hour
