Do you have a passion for working with children? Do you have creative skills which you can use to motivate and engage children in their recovery?


This is an exciting opportunity for a part-time activity coordinators (band 4) to work in an inpatient CAMHS unit with children aged 5-13 years.

The role will involve taking a lead in developing and facilitating the therapeutic recreation programme for the children after school, during holidays, in the evenings and on the weekend.

Collingham Child and Family Centre is a National 7 day inpatient setting working in partnership with Chelsea Hospital Schools.

The team provides intensive assessment and treatment for children with complex emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties, offering intensive work with families/parents and carers to develop their parenting skills.


Activity Coordinators facilitate a programme of social, physical, creative and skills based activities to both individuals and groups which promotes social inclusion for service users.

The post holder will work closely with the Occupational Therapists and the ward and multi-disciplinary team contributing information towards assessments and care plans.

We are looking for someone who is able to work using their initiative, to motivate and encourage children within a positive and active environment.


Please note:

currently we are looking for someone to work 3 x 5 hour shifts which will include a shift on a Saturday.


  • To consistently facilitate and organise a range of activities as part of the recreation programme for after school, evenings, weekends and school holidays.
  • To provide interventions with personal recovery principles in order to improve the service users' quality of life and to support them to do the things they want to do and live the life they want to lead.
  • To facilitate a programme of social, creative, physical and skills based activities to both individuals and groups which promotes social inclusion and improved engagement across the areas of selfcare, productivity and leisure.
  • To coordinate activities and resources available on the unit so they are easily accessible and meaningful to service users.
  • To work closely with the Occupational Therapist and wider Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) to support delivery of a 'wraparound' therapeutic programme.

The overall aim of the role is to provide interventions, using personal recovery principles, in order to improve the children's quality of life and to allow them to have access to positive experiences which will support their recovery journey.

The post holder will receive regular supervision by an Occupational Therapist and opportunities for training through CNWL Learning and Development and the Recovery and Wellbeing College.
