Chelmsford, Essex, United Kingdom Essex County Council Full time

About the role

As Intelligence Manager, you'll join the team leading the development of the new Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Greater Essex – part of the emerging network of research centres that are based in local authorities, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).

The HDRC Greater Essex will be hosted by Essex County Council, but you'll work hand-in-glove with colleagues in Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock Councils, and across the University of Essex and Anglia Ruskin University.

You'll provide operational leadership to the development and delivery of a high-quality research programme, focused on the wider determinants of health, and capable of informing decisions on strategy and commissioning and shaping future service practice. Deep engagement with partners across the local system of public services, and with members of our multi-partner Leadership Board, will be the key to success.

In this role you will ensure that the insights we generate are timely and presented to achieve maximum impact. You'll lead a team of specialist researchers, helping them to navigating a complex political environment, and using your experience to identify where the team's skills and capabilities can add most value. You'll build strong and productive working relationships with senior stakeholders across the council and beyond.

The role is a great opportunity to influence senior decision-makers across Greater Essex, generating insights that them to shape policy and to design interventions that improve the health, quality of life for and opportunity for some of our most challenged residents and communities.

In return, you can look forward an excellent rewards package, as well as flexible working and long-term career opportunities.
