The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS trust plays a huge part in west Essex and east and north Hertfordshire's way of life.

The trust runs a busy hospital, The Princess Alexandra Hospital and provides services at St. Margaret's Hospital and Herts and Essex Hospital. Together serve a population of around 350,000 people.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Shared responsibility for opening and distribution of all incoming post that comes into the Finance Office.
  • Ensure that payments for goods and services are made accurately through the validation of item, price, quantity and delivery through reference to the Trust's official purchase order or other appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure that official orders are updated as required and that the financial information added is accurate. Interpret orders and invoice details to be able to ensure information is represented in an accurate and understandable manner.
  • Ensure that all appropriate authorisations of invoices have been made and ensure that payments for goods and services are made accurately through the validation of item, price, quantity and delivery through reference to the Trust's official purchase order or other appropriate documentation.
The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above

You'll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

  • An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
  • Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
  • A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You'll have the following skills/experience:

  • Communicate using a variety of formats in a clear and concise manner.
  • Work to deadlines.
  • Use computers & a variety of systems (with training & support).
  • Understanding of the VAT rules applicable to NHS.
  • Previous NHS / Public sector experience. (Desirable)
