As the Head of Environment and Sustainability at Ground Control, you'll lead our efforts in nature conservation and sustainability. Your role involves providing direction to ensure we are at the forefront of environmental initiatives and holding ourselves accountable to meet our sustainability goals.

Our ultimate goal is to become the most environmentally friendly service provider, actively working to reduce our ecological footprint and collaborating with partners to make a positive impact. We are committed to true sustainability and do not engage in greenwashing practices. As a privately owned company, we dedicate 5% of our profits to The Evergreen Fund, supporting environmental projects and carbon offsetting.

Role Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Strategies: Lead the development and implementation of environmental and sustainability policies, focusing on carbon neutrality, biodiversity preservation, eco-friendly materials, and social responsibility.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, manage licenses, and handle permits.
  • Business Development Support: Collaborate with the business development team on tenders, providing technical expertise and engaging clients in our sustainability efforts.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise the environment and sustainability team, maintain the company's environmental management system, and oversee certifications and verifications.
  • Environmental Assurance: Partner with the quality team to conduct environmental inspections, audits, and leadership visits to promote a culture of sustainability.
  • Data and Analytics: Lead initiatives to track essential environmental and sustainability data using data analytics.
  • Incident Management: Head the business's environmental incident investigation team, collaborating with stakeholders and regulators when necessary.
  • External Engagement: Represent the company at industry events, forums, and meetings, and engage with external organizations focused on sustainability.
  • Colleague and Supply Chain Engagement: Develop and implement engagement strategies, ensuring effective communication both internally and externally.
What We Need from You
  • Experience: Proven senior management experience in environmental and sustainability roles, preferably within the natural or built environment.
  • Track Record: Demonstrated success in developing and implementing sustainability and carbon reduction strategies.
  • Qualifications: Degree in a relevant field, CEEQUAL and BREEAM assessor certifications, and IEMA Practitioner membership.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to influence, understanding of ESG topics, knowledge of legislation, and proficiency in data analysis.
  • Attributes: Passion for sustainability, change-driving capabilities, adept at navigating the sustainability landscape, and skilled at presenting complex subjects to diverse audiences.
