Job summary

The NHS Health Check team is looking for an enthusiastic and flexible Senior Health Check Adviser (SHCA) tojoin our Quality Assurance and Training team. The SHCA will support with our ongoing aim to ensure that NHSHealth Checks are delivered to a consistently high standard, adhering to all quality assurance requirements byall providers across Health Check Service supports individuals in Kent by offering a person-centred approach to raisingawareness of their risk of developing cardiovascular disease and the impact of their existing health andlifestyle behaviours. We then support them to reduce their risk through onward referral for furtherinvestigation and/or lifestyle support.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Health Check adviser will be responsible for:o supporting with the delivery of NHS Health Check trainingo providing on-site training on our software system and point of care testing at GP Practices and pharmaciesacross Kento conducting work-based observations of third-party providers at their place of worko supporting the quality assurance programmeo completing administrative tasks associated with all of the aboveo delivering regular NHS Health Check clinics to maintain own clinical competencieso the line management of Band 3 Health Check Advisers as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Evidence of Diploma or Foundation Degree Level study (Level 5) or equivalent experience; RSPH Level 2 in NHS Health Checks, Behaviour Change and Understanding Health Improvement (will be available if not in place already); Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths); NHS Health Check training completed

Desirable

Mentorship / Coaching qualification; RSPH level 3 or equivalent; PTTLS or other relevant training qualification

Experience

Essential

Experience of delivering NHS Health Checks; Minimum of 2 years' experience in public health/health or social care setting; Experience of working as part of a team; Experience of designing or delivering training packages; Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of IT packages (E-Pay / E-roster/ TAPs/ CIS)

Desirable

Experience of working in a community environment; Experience of delivering training

Special knowledge and expertise

Essential

Awareness of professional issues and recent developments, for example, the NHS and Primary Care (including Clinical Governance, NICE, Essence of Care) and within the area of Public Health; Knowledge of up to date NHS Health Checks practice and National Guidelines
