Typical shifts would be part time 20-30 hrs - for example 10-3pm - 4 weekdays and 1 Saturday. Depending on performance and/ or business need. There is a strong possibility this could lead to full time hours.

We have a fully staffed kitchen and require an additional hand with food prep.

If you are shortlisted, you will receive a call with offer of a short trial.

Main Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Chef in basic food preparation like cutting ingredients, peeling and washing food items. Preparing raw chicken or meat. Cutting fruit and vegetables.
  • Assist with dressing plates on the pass.
  • Assist with making tray bakes and desserts.
  • Washing dirty dishes like cutlery, pots, cutting boards and pans or loading dishes into the dishwasher
  • Removing kitchen waste from waste containers and disposing of them properly
  • Cleaning and sterilising countertops, kitchen walls, stoves, ovens, grills and sinks
  • Assist with cleaning the entire kitchen once it is closed to ensure it is ready for the next day
  • Help maintaining the food storage areas like freezers and refrigerators
  • Cleaning and maintaining cooking equipment like cookers, pots and food mixers
  • Assist with cleaning of front of house areas as and when required.
  • Providing assistance to Prep Cooks and other kitchen staff, as needed

Skills and abilities:

  • Previous experience in a high volume/ fast paced environment is preferable.
  • Good knife skills, fast at chopping/slicing/ dicing food.
  • Be friendly, courteous and professional at all times.
  • Ability to communicate with the Kitchen Managers, Cooks and colleagues
  • Thorough attention to detail, excellent time management and critical thinking skills
  • Indepth knowledge of kitchen safety and health regulations
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues
  • Ability to follow all instructions given
