Thank you for expressing your interest in the post of Part-Time Catering Supervisor based at the Lagan Valley Island Lisburn where Stepping Stones NI provides catering for Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council. The post holder will support the Catering Manager with day-to-day operations to supply the catering provision of Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, whether it be a small board meeting or event to a conference of up to 200 people.

You will be part of a small team of both permanent and casual staff, so excellent leadership skills coupled with a hands-on approach are required to deliver a high standard of catering with a strong focus on quality and service.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Support the Catering Manager in ensuring high food quality and customer service are maintained at all times
- Deputise for the Catering Manager in his/her absence
- Where necessary liaise with stakeholders e.g. Council staff, external guests/organisations in ensuring catering requirements are met
- Work with kitchen staff in ensuring food is served in accordance with all required standards
- Supervise and lead other staff as required

Job Title: Part-Time Catering Supervisor SS2402

Reporting to: Catering Manager

Responsible for: Assist the Catering Manager in delivery of catering provision at Lagan Valley Island.

Location: Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn, BT27 4RL. At less busy times you will have the opportunity to support the wider catering team at Stepping Stones NI cafes in Lisburn and Ards.

**Salary**: £13.63 per hour

Pension: 7% employer contribution

Holiday entitlement: 25 Days plus 11 Statutory Days (pro rata)

Hours of Work: 16-25 hours per week depending on the needs of the business. Some events/meetings can be early morning and late evening so the post holder must be able to work some of these as required.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Support the Catering Manager in ensuring high food quality and customer service are maintained at all times
- Deputise for the Catering Manager in his/her absence
- To provide excellent customer service and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders e.g. Council staff, external guests/organisations in ensuring catering requirements are met
- Work with kitchen staff in ensuring food is served in accordance with all required standards
- Supervise and lead other staff as required
- To follow all health and safety regulations including fire, hygiene HACCP and COSHH and timely completion of appropriate records.
- To assist in the maintenance of an effective stock control system for food purchase and usage when required by the catering manager.
- To work as part of a team and have a flexible attitude to work in a customer focused environment

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Essential Education and Attainments**

GCSE English and Math’s or equivalent (Level 2 Essential Skills).

Food Hygiene Certificate - Level 1.

**Essential Experience**

Minimum 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years of working in a customer facing role in a commercial catering environment

Minimum 1 years’ experience within last 5 years in a supervisory role.

Experience of delivering excellent customer service.

**Specialist Skills and Aptitudes**

Excellent planning and organisation skills.

Good communication skills.

Numeracy skills.

Ability to display merchandise professionally.

**Personal Qualities**

Ability to work as part of a team and be flexible and adaptable.

Be positive and self-motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude.

Understanding of the issues/barriers faced by adults with learning disabilities in relation to working in a cafe environment.

Reliable attendance and timekeeping.

**Desirable Qualities**

2 years’ recent supervisory experience of working in a customer facing role in a commercial catering environment.

Food Hygiene Certificate - Level 2.
