Here in Swindon we have a clear vision and plans to reduce the need for Children to come into our care with our new adolescent offer and edge of care work and we are continually working as a partnership to ensure our children are safe.
We're making a real difference to the lives of the children and families we work with in Swindon.We have now implemented the Family Safeguarding Model in 2022, a new multi-disciplinary approach that supports a whole-system change to child protection for children up to adolescence, focusing on supporting the needs of children and adults so that children can safely remain within their families.

An opportunity has arisen for an initial 10 monthfixed term contract into the Fostering Service to undertake the role of the Mockingbird Liaison Worker.
The post holder will report to the Fostering Team Manager/Assistant Team Manager and will be responsible for the mobilisation and implementation of the Mockingbird Project within the Fostering Service.
Mockingbird is an evidenced based and licenced model of support for foster carers led by the fostering network.In the model 5-8 fostering households are linked together in what is called a constellation supported by a home hub carer.
That home hub carer always has 2 empty beds but provides support to all the homes including sleepovers for children, emergency support, advice, guidance, and emotional support.
They will also organise activities, trips and social events for the constellation. The model is shown to increase home stability for children in care. We also plan to use as part of our recruitment promotion in future. There will be a Mockingbird co-ordinator who will oversee the project.For more information please see the fostering network website.
The post holder will need to be organised, be able to understand and analyse data and have good report writing and time management skills.
Working with the Fostering Network and assigned Mockingbird Coach on mobilisation, implementation and support of the Mockingbird project and its continued expansion.
Recruiting and supporting the home hub carer for the Mockingbird ConstellationSupporting the mobilisation of the Mockingbird constellation with the home hub carer and providing ongoing support and oversight.
Organising and being a member of the internal working group that will oversee and steer the project.
Completing, and keeping up to date the key documentation from the fostering network to ensure model validity, incl. Attend and represent the Service at the Mockingbird events held by the Fostering Network
Ensure the Fostering Regulations are upheld within the project.
Collecting and reporting on performance data from the project and evaluating its success
Support the Service Manager and Team Manager in overseeing and tracking the spend for the project.
