We are currently looking for an experienced Team Manager to join our Development Management team. This team consists of Professional Planning Officers and Technical/Administrative Support Staff who collaborate closely to enhance the quality of the built and natural environment in the district.

This position is for one of the two DM Team Managers, each overseeing an area team responsible for handling a variety of application scales. The Team Manager will be in charge of performance and line managing the officers, allocating cases, conducting reviews, making decisions, and representing the council in appeals and planning committee meetings.

Requirements:

  • A relevant degree/diploma in Town and Country Planning and RTPI membership.
  • A management qualification to NVQ level 4 or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in Development Management, including work within a Local Planning Authority and dealing with rural, urban, and detailed building design.
  • Strong people management skills with a focus on performance, leadership, and coaching.
  • Experience in handling complex planning applications and projects, including report writing and presentation skills.
  • Project management skills with good communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational skills with proficiency in IT and technology.
