  • Practice Plus Group were recently awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Thameside and will begin delivering services in May 2023. We are the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a sociallyexcluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person's care.

As a Substance Misuse Non-medical prescriber you will maintain integrated working practices and care pathways for the site that meet the complex and changing needs of people with co-existing issues.

You will work as a lead member of a multidisciplinary team responsible for undertaking Clinical Nursing Practice at an advanced level using expert knowledge and clinical skills to deliver care to patients.

You will also be the go-to for providing expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.


As part of this role, you'll provide treatment as required, including prescribing medication and carry out comprehensive assessments of patients looked after.

You'll provide advice/support in relation to crisis situations, conditions, and treatment plans, based on medical and treatment history.

About You:

You will be a registered Nurse and qualifications in Non Medical Prescribing.

You will have a proven record of providing supervision, teaching and mentoring and have an understanding of concerns when prescribing in a prison environment.

You will also have experience dealing with substance misuse.

You'll receive an annual salary up to £60,000 per annum - dependent on experience.

HM Prison Thameside is a local category B resettlement prison in the Thamesmead area of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, South-East London and is situated next to HMP Belmarsh.

HMP Thameside is London's only private prison and can currently hold 1232 convicted and remand male prisoners.
