We are looking for people with patience, resilience and professionalism to working alongside the Police in custody suites, caring for detainees - many of whom are some of the most vulnerable people in society.

We look for people with the communication and interpersonal skills to support colleagues, work together in teams and deliver an exceptional service to our detainees every day.


Previous experience of dealing sensitively with a wide variety of people who have been agitated, confused or angry would be an advantage, full training will be given.

A little more about the role
The custody suites can be an energetic place to work, with no two shifts the same. Whilst detained, we provide individuals with all their physical, mental healthcare and wellbeing needs.

As well has escorting detainees, making recorded observations as per their individual plan, you'll work with colleagues and the Police to deal with any detainee that is a risk of harming themselves.

You'll be working in a small team alongside

Police Officers:
whilst also having the support of experienced Senior Custody Detention Officers to learn from.

  • Salary of £23,869.69 on a 4shift _on_ (2 days, 2 nights) then 4shift _off_ pattern, scheduled for 2 years ahead so you can plan your life. (Averages 42 hours per week).
