Are you looking for a new challenge, are caring and compassionate and have a passion to help others or simply fancy a fresh start, then we need people who share our values and vision to join us as Support Workers working in our Home Treatment Team and newly commissioned Crisis Hub and Mental Health Helpline.
Cornwall recognises our Home Treatment and Crisis service provision as a pivotal part of the acute care pathway for people with acute mental health difficulties, and is investing substantially in them to improve care.
The team triages mental health crisis calls and referrals, providing interventions, support, guidance and signposting. The service further delivers timely and responsive face to face assessments where indicated.
This role will rotate between working in Home Treatment Team, the Crisis Hub, and helpline.
This an exciting time to join the team as we continue to grow and develop to deliver a high quality mental health response to people in crisis.
You will be working in either Home Treatment Team, the Crisis Hub, or the 24 hour mental health helpline (mental Health Connect).
- You will communicate and relate with a range of employees of the Trust, visitors, service users, carers, students, members of the public and other agencies with a professional and sensitive approach using a variety of communication and customer service methods at all times maintaining professional boundaries.
- You will receive phone calls, recording messages accurately, liaising with other administrative, call handlers and health professionals ensuring that suitable action is taken.
- Effectively use the phone system to answer & redirect calls, plus wrapup a session.
- You will maintain confidentiality at all times.
- You will demonstrate an understanding of the importance of effective team working within a multidisciplinary team. Have the ability to adapt and use initiative as the need arises.
- You will have good communication skills to analyse each call using active and empathetic listening (questioning and summarising), offering sensitive, age appropriate conversation.
We are a people organisation and people matter to us.
As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.
Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff. We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals.
Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.
Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
