The post holder will mainly focus on Neurosurgical research studies but will also be expected to support the entire Neuroscience portfolio as needed.

Your Qualities:

  • Registered nurse/AHP with current professional registration
  • Experience in collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Organized, self-motivated, and flexible
  • Recent post-registration experience in Neurosciences/neurosurgery preferred but not mandatory
  • A flexible approach to teamwork
  • Preference for research experience, but not obligatory

Main Duties of the Job

  • Assess trial protocols and provide insights on safety, regulatory, and logistical matters during the trial
  • Collaborate with the PI to evaluate the feasibility of planned studies
  • Conduct all visits, observations, and interventions with participants as per the study protocol
  • Maintain Investigator Site File(s) and complete Case Report File / eCRF with precision
  • Ensure accurate inclusion of trial data in patients' hospital records
  • Communicate progress and issues to senior research personnel promptly
  • Supervise junior team members, with oversight from senior research staff
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, database programs, and patient administration systems
  • Regularly utilize software for document and report creation, including spreadsheets for external agencies

Job Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities of the role

Clinical Trial Set-Up

  • Assess trial protocols and advise on safety, regulatory, and logistical aspects
  • Collaborate with the PI to assess study feasibility
  • Organize trial feasibility meetings
  • Facilitate Site Specific Assessment procedures
  • Assist in contract negotiations and project costing
  • Ensure projects receive necessary approvals before initiation
  • Coordinate with NIHR Clinical Research Network personnel for trial setup
  • Manage trial set-up across different departments within the trust

Staff Management

  • Supervise junior team members with guidance from senior staff, including appraisals and leave management
  • Facilitate the professional growth of other team members
  • Support educational initiatives for research nurses/staff across the Trust

Resource Management

  • Handle patient valuables and reimburse expenses related to study participation
  • Ensure safe use, maintenance, and storage of office equipment
  • Contribute to effective stock control and maintenance
  • Assist in selecting and purchasing study-specific equipment and clinical supplies

Education/Training/Qualifications

Essential

  • RN or AHP with current registration
  • Substantial post-registration experience

Desirable

  • Current Good Clinical Practice Certification
  • Degree level education in nursing or a related health field
