The Role:

As a Chef at Palmer & Howells, you will deliver a high-quality catering service that meets company standards while adhering to regulations and financial objectives.

  • Full-time position: 40 hours per week with no late nights
  • Work 48 weeks a year around term time, allowing for ample time off
  • Hourly wage: £13 - £13.50

Main Responsibilities:
  • Adjust menus to suit business needs, considering costs and nutritional standards
  • Efficiently prepare quality food following recipes, ensuring proper quantities and presentation
  • Manage stock levels and place orders with designated suppliers
  • Maintain top-notch hospitality services as outlined in the brochure
  • Train staff on ingredients, cooking techniques, and portion control
  • Deliver friendly and personalized service to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Implement and oversee the Food Safety Management System
  • Ensure cleaning tasks are carried out as scheduled with an adequate supply of clean utensils
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols
  • Handle cash transactions and follow security procedures
  • Achieve sales targets and profit margins while managing costs
  • Develop weekly and monthly business forecasts and take corrective actions as needed
  • Lead by example, ensuring team members adhere to uniform guidelines

Your primary work location is specified in your employment contract.

However, due to operational requirements, temporary or permanent transfers to other locations may occur within a reasonable commuting distance of your current workplace.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in kitchens/catering focusing on creative and nutritious offerings
  • Ideal to have a Food Safety Level 2 certification, training will be provided if necessary
  • Good knowledge of kitchen equipment and best practices in food environments
  • Friendly and outgoing personality to create positive experiences
  • Understanding of gross profit management
