Job summary

This is an exciting new role which allows the post holder to maintain their clinical skills while developing radiotherapy trials and research for the trust. We are looking for two, self motivated therapeutic radiographers to take the lead on a number of trials namely PACE-NODES, BRIOChe, HIT-Miso, ATNEC, STAMPEDE & RAINBO.This year the radiotherapy team were awarded team of the year by the society of radiographers for the South East region. Everyone here shares the same passion for patient-centred care, showing immense teamwork and flexibility in achieving our goals. We recently treated our 100th SABR lung patient and have expanded our SABR portfolio to include Oligometastasis and Prostate SABR.

Main duties of the job

The area combines the advantages of city life with rural villages and seaside towns. Portsmouth is a thriving naval city, steeped in history, on the beautiful South Coast. It is ninety minutes from central London and has good transport links by ferry and airplane into Europe. Waters sports facilities are excellent with access to the Solent, and sandy beaches are within easy reach. Inland is the spectacular and relatively unspoilt countryside of rural Hampshire, and the South Downs National Park.

Qualifications

Essential

Current HCPC registration to practice as a Therapeutic Radiographer BSc in Therapeutic Radiography or equivalent Evidence of recent CPD

Desirable

Evidence of recent CPD Post graduate level qualification in Research, Healthcare related subject or equivalent Previous experience of project management and/or participating in the co-ordination of Clinical Trials

Experience

Essential

Evidence of systems development and change management. Phlebotomy. Relevant experience in Management /Leadership training.

Desirable

Clinical post registration experience Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Training for Research

Strong and effective communication skills (verbal and non-verbal), both orally and written Strong presentation skills Ability to deal with emotive and confrontational situations using conflict resolution skills Strong personal resilience and ability to act appropriately in stressful and/or emotive situations Demonstrable competency in the use of complex radiotherapy treatment and planning equipment Ability to successfully problem-solve and trouble-shoot treatment and planning patient setup issues Ability to understand own limitations and when to ask for help Demonstrable skills in teaching and supervising student radiographers Understand the benefits of and how to work within an ISO9001 quality system Current knowledge of developments in radiotherapy practice and Clinical Trials Skills in working with cross-functional teams.
