Children's Support Worker
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, energetic, dynamic, enthusiastic, and flexible individual, to support a family to care for their 10-year-old child who has a diagnosis of acquired brain injury and hearing impairment. The primary aspect of this role will be supporting the child to access social activities after school, hobbies and completing therapy programmes during the holidays and occasional weekends, however there may be occasions where support is required within the family home after 7pm with some waking nights.
Our client is outgoing, charismatic with a zest for life and enjoys all things outside, visiting parks, play-areas, swimming and shopping.
Working hours can be very flexible, so if you are interested please don't hesitate to give us a call for an informal chat.
You will be supported by a team of professionals to undertake a range of duties to support the client, you will work closely with therapists and family providing the highest standards of care and support.
It is important that you are sensitive to the needs and boundaries of the family and are able to support the child's parents when it comes to maintaining their structure and values.
Experience of working with young people or children with additional needs is preferred however not essential, instead a personality that matches the child's expectations, a willingness to learn, to play, to have fun and the ability to work flexibly are the qualities most needed.
The post requires that you work under the direction of the client's therapy team, parents as well as independently to a greater extent.
