Full Circle Food Project (FCFP) is a small voluntary organisation based in Ashington, Northumberland.

Formed in 2013 from a volunteer led community project, the organisation has grown substantially over the past three years.

Based within the Hirst Park Growing Zone, FCFP educates people living in Northumberland about growing food to eat, healthy eating ona budget; and supporting people to live healthier lives, addressing deprivation, and placing community members at the heart of service delivery.


With a strong board of trustees, and an experienced staff and volunteer team, FCFP are now looking to appoint an Operations Manager to provide leadership in the day-to-day delivery of our programmes.

This is a newly created role following the growth of theorganisation.

The opportunity:

To support the CEO in executing the strategy and development of the organisation to make the community a better place to live and the people within it capable of supporting and having pride in themselves and their communities.


The incoming Operations Manager will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day management of the organisation as directed by the CEO.
  • Working with staff and volunteers plan & implement programme delivery in line with funding expectations, and planning staff and volunteer rotas, ensuring appropriate cover is in place.
  • Ensure policies, procedures and risk assessments are implemented and maintained to ensure health, safety and wellbeing of staff, sessional workers and volunteers, as well as good management practices.
  • Ensure orders are placed for ingredients, materials and supplies to enable programme delivery.
  • Implement Outcome monitoring procedures to capture data and insight to help demonstrate the impact of the organisation.
  • Implement staff and volunteer supervision and appraisal processes, and the organisations learning & development plan to build local capacity and capability.
  • Lead on the implementation of Quality Standard Awards to further improve the work of the organisation.
  • Undertake the role of the organisations Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Manage day to day financial management, including petty cash supply and spend plus BACS and cheque payments, invoices and purchase orders.
  • Proven Project Management Experience, particularly in organising programme delivery.
  • Experience of working with the public.
  • Experience of leading a team and being able to respond to the challenges this brings.
  • Experience of financial planning, budget monitoring and financial reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of the issues facing the community we work with.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Excellent networking skills and the ability to influence and be persuasive in different settings.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexibly including some unsocial hours to meet community needs.
  • Enthusiasm, energy, creativity, and resilience.
  • Flexible and responsive.
  • Knowledge of health & safety, food safety and safeguarding legislation.
  • Selfmotivated & able to work with mínimal supervision.
  • Understanding and empathy with FCFP's aims
