ODI Europe is looking for a European Policy & Engagement Manager for the Walking the Talk program. In this role, you will collaborate with European consortium partners and feminist allies to promote inclusive and effective research and policy impact, translating feminist values into action. European countries play a significant role in advancing gender equality globally. However, there is growing pressure on Official Development Aid (ODA), particularly on funding for gender equality. ODI Europe, as a co-implementing partner of the Walking the Talk consortium, aims to embed gender equality in foreign policies and ODA spending, ensuring that voices from low and middle income countries are included in decisions regarding gender equality and Feminist Foreign Policy (FFP). Main responsibilities European policy liaison and external positioning

  • Monitor EU institutional changes and policies related to foreign policy, human development, and gender issues.
  • Stay informed about EU development cooperation financial instruments relevant to gender equality.
  • Identify policy influencing opportunities and activities for Walking the Talk and ODI, providing input and engaging with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders on EU policy engagement related to gender equality.
  • Support the uptake of research outputs by decision-makers.
  • Provide training on European policy processes.
Project implementation and accountability
  • Design, implement, and evaluate EU policy engagement strategies in alignment with program goals.
  • Coordinate with the program's Coordination team, consortium members, and allies.
  • Support learning, monitoring, and evaluation for policy engagement.
  • Collaborate with communication and advocacy teams for consistent messaging.
  • Work closely with the Program Manager and Director to supervise recruitment processes.
  • Undertake other duties as requested.
Requirements
  • Professional knowledge and experience in policy engagement for gender equality ODA and/or FFP.
  • Experience in Brussels and knowledge of European Institutions.
  • Ability to facilitate collaboration between Global South and North actors.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to identify policy influencing opportunities.
  • Relevant degree or work experience in international development, gender studies, or related fields.
  • Belief in ODI's values.
  • Team player with excellent relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in English; French fluency preferred.
  • Willingness to travel in Europe.
  • Experience in media relations and press coverage.
