Role purpose

The PR and Communications Officer will report into the PR Manager and will assist with leading on shaping, building, and delivering Gatehouse Bank's communications strategy. The PR and Communications Officer will coordinate initiatives and campaigns, raising Gatehouse Bank's profile through external and internal messaging and campaigns to ensure stakeholders understand the Bank's wider agenda and strategy.

The role also includes providing administrative support to assist the team in working in the most efficient and effective way, including owning the content calendar, coordinating on projects and evaluating activity, suggesting and implementing improvements where necessary.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor the Bank's social media channels and media mailbox, ensuring all urgent messages are actioned in a timely manner
  • Manage the communications team's content calendar – ensuring work is completed and distributed in a timely manner
  • Plan, create and deliver creative communications campaigns, working with internal spokespeople and the wider communications team
  • Build, foster and maintain positive relationships with key journalists and media contacts
  • Prepare and brief the Bank's spokespeople for media briefings, events, and other speaking opportunities to ensure that messaging remains consistent
  • Act as a Brand Ambassador for Gatehouse Bank, ensuring the Bank's brand and values are incorporated into all communications material
  • Play a part in managing the Communications budget and other administration, including third party suppliers, such as media monitoring platforms

Key Skills required.

  • Experience of a range of social media platforms, e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, X and Instagram
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading abilities, to be applied to a range of online and printed materials
  • Basic design skills and previous experience of using Canva
  • Innovative thinking – always looking to challenge the work produced and processes to ensure it is of exceptional quality
  • Ability to build credible relationships quickly and with integrity – with both external and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritise and plan workloads effectively.
