Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Developing internal communications programmes that support the UK business plan including diversity & inclusion and employee engagement
  • Delivering tailored communications to the Newton Aycliffe site, gaining stakeholder feedback, monitoring effectiveness and improving as necessary
  • Design and deliver innovative multichannel internal communications initiatives for Newton Aycliffe, including support for leadership and management teams
  • Ensuring Newton Aycliffe is represented in UKwide internal communications
  • Proactively identifying stories of interest and share with a UK wide internal audience
  • Ensuring Hitachi Values and Behaviours are regularly integrated into internal communications activity
  • On an adhoc basis, assisting with events that take place at Newton Aycliffe ensuring employees are fully informed

About you

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both orally and in writing

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a PR/media/communications function, either inhouse or in an agency
  • Experience in the rail industry / an infrastructure environment
  • Proven experience of copywriting bylined articles and interview answers
  • Experience of working in an international context
  • Media relations, public affairs or journalism qualification
