We are looking for a Project Accountant who will report into the Finance Business Partner (FBP) for Infrastructure . You will provide financial support and challenge to projects in the Highways sector and partner with the Commercial and Operations departments in the delivery of the Highways Sectors financial targets.

What you'll do:
  • Building and managing relationships with partner and internal finance teams.
  • Ensure projects are set up correctly with policies and specific agreements
  • Ensure term are applied in the financial management of the Sector at all times
  • Support the OU in the accounting and reporting of sector performance
  • Ownership of the basic accounting, reporting and forecasting including production of management accounts
  • Work with Group Finance and Finance Service Delivery to ensure financial reporting timetables and controls adherence.
  • Cash flow forecasting modeling
  • WIP reporting and action plans
  • Billing administration and cash management alongside shared service teams
  • First point of contact for PROJECT team for cost reports and queries
  • Ensure that all projects costs are managed and controlled in line with internal control policies and procedures. This includes regular review and reporting of key project and divisional variances.
  • Reconciliation of actuals & Journal posting governance
  • Support team to ensure timely timesheet bookings and accurate time reporting
  • Support the ongoing forecasting and budgeting process
  • Timely and accurate completion of budgets and forecasts with comprehensive trend and KPI analysis including management of financial risk and opportunity registers.
  • Ensure strict adherence to revenue recognition policy and processes throughout
  • Single point of contact for Highways in interfacing with shared service teams (e.g AP, AR and tax) and timely processing
  • Internal audit support - right cost to the right place at the right time, in line with the contract
  • Contribute to the external audit process and liaising with audit teams Participate and actively contribute to functional system and process improvement initiatives.
What you'll bring to the role:
  • Qualified / Finalist CIMA/ACA
  • Good Excel skills (Pivot, lookup, formula, formatting,)
  • Highly motivated, committed individual with a track record of delivering good quality finance outputs.
  • Analytical review and presenting to senior leaders
  • Knowledge of civil engineering, construction and/or general contracting or long term project accounting ideally in the highways sector
