QA Tester

London, Greater London, United Kingdom Pugpig Full time
About the role

QA Testers at Pugpig are focussed on ensuring quality and stability across all of our products. You will work closely with teams across the business, including our product, professional services and development teams, whilst reporting directly to the Head of QA. You will work on manual testing for a full range of products, including regression, exploratory and sanity testing – plus debugging, troubleshooting and problem-solving. You will also be involved in client projects to test their apps and websites. There will be opportunities to develop and improve our processes and ways of working.

Key responsibilities
  • Testing across all products, such as server, native apps and web
  • Replicating and debugging all types of issues using tools including IDEs, Charles proxy, browser inspectors
  • Using JIRA and TestRail to log test results and issues, and explaining detailed test results
  • Manual testing and automated testing, as well as exploratory testing of new features
  • Product regression testing
  • Testing client apps and sites, often with reference to their designs, and considering usability, accessibility, performance and localisation
  • Creating documentation
  • Contributing to and taking part in meetings such as daily stand-ups, project calls, demos and retros
  • Creating and improving manual and automated test cases
About you

You're curious and passionate about technology and SaaS. You have an interest in media and publishing, and can get to grips with our products and services quickly. You'll have some experience using iOS & Android devices, and Mac & Windows OS, as well as different web browsers. You're a strong and confident communicator, with a forward-thinking, problem-solving approach. You'll be able to spot opportunities to develop and improve our processes, and be keen to take responsibility for this. You'll be able to prioritise and manage your workload effectively, knowing how to work out what requires your attention first, and being able to respond efficiently. You have a desire to learn continuously, are quick to pick up new skills and you'll be able to use your creativity to overcome challenges.

You'll have these skills and qualities:

  • Exceptional communication and comprehension skills, both written and verbal
  • Great attention to detail with a helpful, can-do approach to work
  • An interest in and understanding of how products interact with each other, both superficially and through the underlying systems
  • Can work independently and use initiative to figure things out
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Ability to be flexible to changing priorities
  • Enthusiasm for writing docs
  • Interest in puzzle-solving
  • Detail-oriented, inquisitive and can ask incisive questions confidently
  • Any experience with QA testing is a big advantage but not essential
  • Experience using JIRA in an agile environment would be beneficial
