This means new tools to discover new medicines and vaccines, predictive capability for pre-clinical research, accelerated CMC and supply chain and an improved day-to-day laboratory experience for our scientists.

Our Digital & Tech solutions will automate workflows and speed up decisions; freeing hands and releasing minds to focus on science.


As R&D enters a new era of data driven science, we are building a data engineering capability to ensure we have high quality data captured with context and aligned data models, so that the data is useable and reusable for a variety of use cases.


GSK R&D and Digital and Tech's collective goal is to deliver business impact, including the acceleration of the discovery and development of medicines and vaccines to patients.

The R&D Digital and Tech remit has expanded over the past 2 years, and to position GSK for the future, The change will strengthen R&D Tech, to provide more strategic impact, focus, accountability, and improved decision making in the use of Digital, Data and Analytics (DDA) to strengthen the pipeline.


Job Purpose


The Senior Product Owner, Assay Data Publication within the R&D Digital and Tech Discovery group will be accountable for designing and delivering products that enable the Medicines Design organisation to accelerate their cycle time through publishing high quality data for re-use.

Whilst acting as a trusted advisor for their product suite, they will develop strategic roadmaps and drive delivery to the highest standards of quality and performance, as well as managing budgets and people.

The product owner will drive prioritisation and work collaboratively and with agility to deliver the highest value to the partner organisation, always with a patient-first mindset.


Key responsibilities:

  • Technology Strategy & Enablement: Leverage strong domain knowledge to develop and deliver valuedriven product roadmaps aligned with R&D strategy and stakeholders.
  • Demand management: Manage and prioritize the backlog to deliver products at speed with continuous feedback from stakeholders.
  • Governance: Partner with stakeholders to define the value of products and development activities, manage delivery and service performance, and manage business risk within the scope of the product
  • Productfocused Delivery: Design and deliver a set of products and services which meets partner groups and GSK's core strategy and requirements and adheres to technical requirements and futurelooking best practices.
  • Quality, Risk & Compliance: Ensure all products within the domain are compliant with internal security and risk management policies and practices, including external regulatory and statutory requirements (e.g. GxP)
  • Feature Definition: Translate customer requests and industry trends into value drivers of new technology solutions and product requirements that can be easily understood by product teams
  • Service Management: Ensure changes are delivered in accordance with the services levels and manage Level 3 support issues and escalations. Accountable for Lifecycle Management of the product.
  • Resource Management: carefully balance resources across the portfolio to ensure delivery occurs in the highestimpact areas, including both personnel and budgetary resources
  • Change management: facilitate clear communication with stakeholders on releases and changes, lead communication around the portfolio and build momentum working in conjunction with R&D partners.
  • Process improvement: drive improvement in process within the team, incorporating concepts from DevOps, Design thinking, Agile methodology and automation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Biological Sciences, or similar discipline
  • 3+ years' experience in product leadership/management or in driving technology change
  • Extensive experience working in a global Tech/IT or pharmaceutical research organization
  • Proven track record of successful technology strategy development, solution design, programme/product delivery and service/vendor management
  • Track record of delivering business impact through process and technologyenabled solutions
  • Experience of working closely with data, showing understanding of data management, governance and mapping concepts.
  • Deep understanding of lifescience processes, with particular focus on drug discovery and screening as well as quality and regulatory requirements and an understanding of the pharmaceutical industry as a whole.
