About The Job Salary**:
£22,369 to £22,777 per annum

Working Pattern:
Full-time (37 hours per week)

Location:
County Hall, Chichester

This role provides a range of legal support duties to the Child Care and Advocacy team in Legal Services.

Your duties in the role will include the organisation of case files, handling and preparing court related documents and court process management, processing of invoices, data entry, compiling reports and diary management.

You will also be required to support fee earning members of the team.


You will have some direct responsibility for handling and processing legal information where concentration, care, accuracy and confidentiality are important.

You will therefore be required to prepare complex legal documents for distribution, and also requires sitting for periods whilst taking notes during meetings.


The Childcare Clerk role in the Child Care and Advocacy team is career graded at Grade - We, the Child Care and Advocacy team in Legal Services team are welcoming a new Childcare Legal Clerk to work alongside us with the following duties of organisation of case files, handling / preparing court related documents and court process management, processing of invoices, data entry, compiling reports and diary management.

We'd also require you to support fee earning members of the team._

  • Giving you the opportunity to really make the role your own and make an impact, you'll be solely responsible for handling and processing legal information where concentration, care, accuracy and confidentiality is important._
  • You will attend frequent meetings where you'd take minutes / notes and prepare complex legal documents for distribution._

Experience and Skills

Ideally you will have experience within an administrative role and you are able to work flexibly to meet the demands of this fast-paced team.

You will have the ability to organise your own workload, taking initiative and prioritising work as required.

You will be able to respond to unexpected situations, for example, responding to a change of court date at short notice.

In addition you will also be able to demonstrate the following key skills and experience:

Key Skills:

  • Excellent organisational skills to facilitate meeting set deadlines for preparing court bundles and serving court related papers.
  • Excellent keyboard skills in order to work with precision to accurately prepare court bundles and type complex letters and statement prepared by solicitors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with witnesses, solicitors, barristers and members of the public as required.
  • Good written communication skills to manage the preparation of court related papers and open and maintain case files.
  • Analytical and judgmental skills in order to effectively deal with arranging court cases, meetings and effectively handle case related calls from clients, courts and external parties.

Qualifications and/or experience:

  • 4 GCSEs with A-C passes including Maths and English or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of procedures and practices associated with operating an administrative or legal clerk service.
  • Good working knowledge of IT systems / procedures.
  • Specific demonstrable experience in document drafting and word processing to a good level.
