What will your role entail as the new Technical Manager in WNI?

You will be in charge of crafting and implementing value-driven solutions aligned with our capital investment goals and overseeing project designs for Water Non-Infrastructure Nitrate Schemes.

You will lead a dynamic project design team to deliver top-quality results. Introduce innovative methodologies centered on outcome-driven solutions, carbon reduction, and digital innovations, while expanding professional networks with internal and external stakeholders in the @one Alliance.

Key Responsibilities:
Design Management

  • Supervise engineering design delivery for assigned projects.
  • Develop and manage Engineering Project Plans covering scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resources.
  • Collaborate with engineering discipline leaders to ensure optimal design approaches.
  • Implement design quality procedures for right-first-time philosophy compliance.
  • Coordinate supplier and subcontractor design input to align with project objectives.
  • Prioritize designs focusing on health & safety, environmental impact, feasibility, and stakeholder requirements.

Project Delivery

  • Work collaboratively with other project functions for efficient outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve affordability and value in the design process.
  • Support project schedules to meet milestones and enhance efficiencies.
  • Create sustainable designs contributing to carbon reduction and natural capital enhancement.
  • Assist in risk management and value-oriented results.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations, overseeing design-related health and safety risks.
  • Identify and resolve health, safety, and welfare concerns within the team.

People/Team Development

  • Offer clear leadership to the project design team, fostering a positive and inclusive ambiance.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams, including performance evaluations and mentoring.
  • Identify competency gaps and support recruitment and development strategies.

Transformation

  • Foster a culture of experimentation, innovation, and ongoing enhancement within the team.
  • Support efforts to minimize carbon footprint and embrace digital technologies for superior project delivery.

A few words about your skills, experience, and characteristics....

To join us, you should hold an Engineering or equivalent degree (preferably). Extensive experience in water-sector assets and capital project delivery is highly desired. Familiarity with the design and construction environment is beneficial.

Able to motivate and lead a team, you must have a customer-centric approach in all tasks. With a strong grasp of how collaboration can unlock complex projects, you should be capable of making informed decisions to keep projects on course. Operating with integrity and accountability, you should build trust among stakeholders and establish your team's presence across the Alliance.
