Digital Reserves Accessibility Assistant (Less Than Half Time), Harvard University (Cambridge)

***This is a Less Than Half Time (LHT) position with up to 14 hours per week***

Harvard Library is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Digital Course Reserves Accessibility Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting digital accessibility by remediating PDFs for course reserves and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards. Subject expertise and language skills are highly desirable. This position will report directly to the Digital Course Reserves Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Remediate PDFs to ensure compliance with digital accessibility standards, guidelines, and best practices under the supervision of the Digital Accessibility Specialist.

· Collaborate with library staff and instructors to identify and prioritize content requiring remediation.

· Contribute to the digital accessibility team by providing subject expertise and language skills as needed.

· Maintain accurate records of completed and ongoing workflows.

· Attend training sessions and meetings related to digital accessibility as required.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

· High school diploma.

· Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn accessibility tools and software, such as Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Additional Requirements:

· Basic knowledge of or strong interest in learning digital accessibility remediation, including PDFs.

· Familiarity with accessibility standards, such as WCAG 2.1, and relevant laws and regulations is a plus.

· Experience working with Learning Management Systems, preferably Canvas, is a plus.

· Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Subject expertise and/or language skills relevant to the assigned projects are highly desirable.
