London, Greater London, United Kingdom Police Now Full time

About Police Now

Our mission is to transform communities, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, and increase the public's confidence in the police service, by recruiting, developing and inspiring outstanding and diverse leaders in society and on the policing frontline.

We are working towards a day when every community, whatever the socio-economic background of its residents, can thrive without being fearful of crime.

We are looking for talented, committed and mission-aligned individuals who will drive us towards achieving our ambitions.

Police Now trains graduates and career changers with leadership potential to become inspirational police officers and outstanding crime fighters on our National Graduate Leadership Programme and our National Detective Programme.

Beyond these programmes our officers are provided with the opportunity to join our Frontline Leadership Programme and be further developed giving them the best possible chance to progress through the policing ranks and have a lifelong connection with us.

Our 115-strong not-for-profit organisation aims to create systemic change; we need highly capable impactful staff to support the recruitment and development of our officers and to cultivate strong relationships with partner forces and the wider sector.

Our selection process

It is vital that we bring top talent onto our programmes so that they go on to have impact in their communities, so we are looking for dedicated individuals who can align with our mission and reflect the communities that we serve.

Role requirements

You'll also be comfortable working as a team alongside your fellow assessors and actors, supported by the Police Now Recruitment team, being comfortable identifying and escalating any concerns but managing your workload independently and with ease.

Finally, you'll be keen to develop your assessment expertise and best practice by undergoing regular training as well as ongoing quality assurance supported by the Police Now team to ensure all assessment activities are conducted consistently and to the highest standard.

Key responsibilities

  • Complete assessments to the identified standard, including capturing all required evidence, providing summative notes and ensuring all scores are included
  • Manage assessment activities in an efficient and timely manner based on the assigned schedule for the day, adapting to changes that occur throughout the session as required
  • Value and drive diversity and inclusion within our processes, being aware of the risks of unconscious bias and supporting any reasonable adjustment requests. Take part in regular training and quality assurance activities to maintain competence and to ensure high standards of rigour and consistency are adhered to.

What you'll need

  • A keen interest in the HR, recruitment or early careers sector, with a desire to develop your knowledge and experience of highvolume assessment centres
  • An understanding of Police Now and a commitment to our mission and programme aims with the ability to represent the organisation with credibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently communicate and build trust with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Attention to detail, excellent observation skills and the ability to reflect and evaluate on others' behaviours through making evidencebased notes
  • Ability to thrive in a fastpaced, agile environment with a proven ability to adapt to last minute changes that may be required in the assessment centre
  • Commitment to support two or more days per week on average, between 8:30 to 18:30. Halfday availability will also be an option for individuals.
  • Quiet homeworking environment, equipment such as laptop or computer, with stable, reliable internet connection to enable you to assess using our digital assessment platform. Comfort with utilising Zoom and MS Teams is also necessary.
  • The ability to travel to London (zone 1) for our inperson assessment centres when scheduled.

Desirable Characteristics:

  • Prior experience in recruitment and/or delivering assessment centres and activities
  • Experience working within the graduate or early careers sector and/or within the policing sector.
Please be aware that full training will be given alongside the opportunity to shadow other assessors and activities.

Logistics
