We are currently looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant to join our busy 17 bedded surgical ward on C14B at RBH.
We look after a variety of patients with surgical diagnoses, including pre and post op care.Our patients can be quite complex with a variety of needs, with a lot requiring considerable nursing care.
As a regional unit for HPB specialist care we look after a variety of patients with complex care needs related to conditions of the liver, pancreas and biliary system.
We are currently a Silver ward within the NAPF assessment framework and as such need a committed, hard-working and caring individual to help us maintain the high standard expected on the ward.
General duties will include assisting patients to meet their hygiene needs both at the bedside and in the bathroom with showering etc, pressure area care and positional changes in patients who are unable to move themselves, giving out and collecting in meals to patients and assisting patients who need support to meet their nutritional requirements, working alongside a trained nurse to deliver a high standard of nursing care, carrying out physiological observations on patients and reporting any abnormalities to the RN.
You must be able to work under pressure, both within a team and using your own initiative. You must be flexible and hard working. An understanding of the role and experience is preferable, but training will be provided.
Working alongside a trained nurse to deliver safe, personal and effective care is the main responsibility but an enthusiasm to develop yourself within the role is desirable.
