Job Title: Senior Supportability Engineering Technician at [Company Name]

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Technical Queries – Initial contact for all technical inquiries, interpreting technical standards and specifications for contracted parts.
  • Manage Obsolescence according to contracted requirements.
  • Source and interpret design data for equipment manufacture and support.
  • Review and clarify suppliers' responses, ensuring technical and contractual compliance.
  • Provide technical advice, develop action plans aligned with Support Engineering's governance.
  • Maintain records of technical queries, provide management information to project leads.
  • Arrange meetings with MoD Technical Officers, develop procedures to enhance query processing efficiency.
  • Assist Procurement Team in finding alternative supply sources.
  • Support Defect Management by providing advice and spares.
  • Conduct OEM visits, liaise with MoD and Ship Staff.
  • Comply with company safety rules, regulations, and initiatives to improve safety.

On an Ad-hoc basis, may carry out:

  • Design investigations.
  • Obsolescence monitoring.
  • Tech Document reviews/updates or creation.
  • Statement of Requirement updates.
  • TAF support.
  • Safety case reviews.

Additionally, there are certain limited responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other Support Value Stream managers and staff for contract execution and delivery.
  • Liaise with MoD customers and Royal Naval Staff.
  • Coordinate with other managers on resource, program, and Quality Assurance requirements.

Qualifications:

  • HNC level qualification or equivalent experience in an engineering subject.
  • Good organizational skills, computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft programs.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in equipment support operations or relevant engineering field, preferably Naval.

Essential Skills:

  • Interrogation and understanding of technical specifications and standards.
  • Creation of technical documentation compliant with processes.
  • Definition and control of engineering interfaces.
  • Awareness of design intent, requirements, and obsolescence management.
  • Application of Quality Management Standards and reporting.
  • Materials Management knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Excel.
