Job Summary

Job Purpose:
Responsible for leading the Baby Room team (0-2 Years). Safeguarding children ensuring excellent high quality childcare is provided. Planning activities appropriate to the age and development of children aged (0- 2 years). Take an active role within the senior management team.

To be a good role model to the children, ensuring they are safe and well looked after at all times adhering to the Tiny Tots Bradford LTD Ethos.


Duties:

  • To assist nursery team in providing a friendly, caring and relaxing environment in order to encourage and develop children in our care.
  • To work within and maintain the context of the whole Nursery team.
  • To ensure all daily routines are adhered to and records kept up to date.
  • To maintain staffing levels, arranging cover when needed.
  • To plan and carry out activities in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, Setting the Standards for Learning, Development and Care for children from birth to five, ensuring they meet with the Early Learning Goals.
  • Further develop 'free flow' play.
  • Ensure assessments/evaluations are regularly completed.
  • Ensure children get the best start in life by working in close partnership with parent/carers to develop independence, confidence and selfesteem, building children's resilience and wellbeing.
  • Support staff development and work closely with other staff and professionals.
  • To communicate with parents and other visitors in a calm, friendly and efficient manner.
  • To oversee an effective key worker system.
  • To liaise with other Room Leaders to provide a smooth transition for children.
  • To ensure your specific duties regarding Health and Safety and fire procedures are understood and actioned.
  • To attend management meetings.
  • To undertake monthly staff meetings outside normal working hours when necessary.
  • To organise parent/key worker and baby room staff meetings.
  • Responsible for opening and closing of the Nursery.
  • Assist the Childcare Services Manager and Deputy Manager in the management and leadership of a diverse staff team.
  • To keep abreast of current issues and attend training as necessary.
  • To carry out any projects or duties as requested by your Line Manager.
  • To take reasonable care of yourself and others and to comply with Tiny Tots LTD Health and Safety policies.

Health and Safety

  • To undertake and share responsibilities for health and safety, operating the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the Nursery day
  • To administrate medication.
  • Ensure you are aware of risk assessments that are carried out to prevent accidents, and act upon any recommendations given
  • Ensure rooms are kept clean and tidy, taking care of toys and equipment, ensuring they are stored safely and correctly.
  • To take part in regular fire drills and ensure you are aware of procedures.
  • To ensure accidents within the establishment are reported to management.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Essential Criteria

  • A commitment to continuous professional development
  • A desire to pursue a career in childcare
  • QTS Early Years/Reception, NNEB, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years experience of working in a baby room in a supervisory role.

Desirable Criteria

  • Maths & English GCSE at Grade C or above.
  • Recent experience of working with different age groups within the birth five years.
  • To hold a current First Aid Paediatric Certificate.
  • To hold a current Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • To have undertaken safeguarding training.
  • Applicants must hold a current DBS on the update service.

KNOWLEDGE
Essential Criteria

  • To have knowledge on the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
  • To have appropriate knowledge of child development.
  • To have knowledge of policies, ethos and principles.
  • To have knowledge on safeguarding children and families.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the implementation of equal opportunities.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of writing children's observations and planning for children's individual needs and next steps using the EYFS framework.
