What it's like to work here

Fell Foot was once the dramatic setting for a prestigious Lake District villa on the shores of Windermere and has been significant as a recreational estate for over two centuries. Situated at the very southern tip of Windermere, Fell Foot is a great, family friendly location to play, explore and relax. Sweeping lawns offer plenty of space for games, picnics, and gentle walks, while easy lake access makes the park perfect for adventure.

What you'll be doing

You'll be based at Fell Foot, leading the Active Base & Boatyard operation. Every day will be different working on site, but the one thing that remains the same is the desire to provide outstanding service at every opportunity.

As a role model for what outstanding service looks like, you'll play your part as one of the team, managing the operation safely and efficiently across the seasons and providing a warm welcome to the full range of visitors to Active Base and the Boatyard. Being experienced in customer service and water sports you'll deal with any difficult situations with professionalism, make good decisions and resolve problems or concerns. You'll support, encourage and identify ways to get the best from your team and set positive and challenging objectives.

You'll lead the team to ensure they are safe and well looked after; with service and presentation standards remaining high; managing budgets and monitoring targets and statistics to ensure you're always on top of your game. You'll use your strong communication skills to make sure everyone within your team knows what's happening when and keep that close link between your team and the rest of the property, so others know how they can help you too. Where necessary, you'll support wider programming opportunities and activities, ensuring those quality conversations continue right throughout the visitor journey.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience of working in a fast-paced environment, delivering high standards of service
  • Are a confident communicator, who enjoys building effective working relationships with a broad range of people – staff, volunteers, partners, advisors & visitors
  • Are proactive and organised, with experience of managing budgets and a talent for multi-tasking and getting things done
  • Are a skilled communicator, who can build strong relationships, both internally and externally
  • Are a flexible thinker and problem-solver, skilled at negotiating and building productive networks
  • An advocate for the outdoors and improving access.
