Bracknell Forest does not only have natural spaces in our name. Our green infrastructure is a tangible foundation to the places we make for residents and wildlife, bringing the benefits of physical and mental health to individuals, their families and our communities.
We have long been recognised for making the borough look and feel great as a place to live and work, but our green infrastructure is also a vital habitat resource in the move to a more sustainable future.
Trees cover 35.4% of the borough, which is the second highest in the country, but we are more 'just' fantastic woodlands. Our passionate Parks and Countryside team manages over 150 sites including heathlands, wildflower and wetland meadows, heritage parks, historic monuments and a large network of Rights of Way. Many sites have a designated conservation status such as our Special Protection Areas (SPA) or Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Strategically manage the obligations of the Parks and Countryside service, related to the work of the council as the Planning Authority, including: development planning consultations; habitat mitigation (SPA) and biodiversity net gain programmes, and the transfer of new land assets.
- Be responsible for a capital enhancement programme, ensuring that works improve the natural estate for people and wildlife, discharging statutory obligations.
- Co-ordinate and review borough policy and strategy related to green infrastructure.
- Ensure the delivery of statutory functions, most notably including Rights of Way obligations.
- Collaborate closely with the Green Infrastructure Delivery Manager to ensure the effective linkage of Strategic and Delivery functions in Parks and Countryside

We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable advocate for expanding and enhancing our natural assets within Bracknell Forest.
Ideally you will have trained and worked in one or more of the areas covered by the team, for instance: ecology, development planning, policy creation, landscape design, or provision of statutory Rights of Way functions.
