Are you an experienced leader in finance, property, and procurement looking for a new and exciting opportunity? West Berkshire Council is seeking a talented individual to join our team as the Service Director (Finance, Property & Procurement) within the Resources Directorate.


As the Service Director, you will report directly to the Executive Director (Resources) and play a crucial role in the strategic management and delivery of financial, property, and procurement services across the council.


You will be responsible for leading and inspiring a dedicated team, ensuring the effective and efficient use of resources to support the delivery of high-quality services to our local community.


  • Extensive experience in a senior finance, property, or procurement role, ideally within a public sector or local government setting.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • A strategic mindset, capable of driving innovation and delivering positive change.
  • Excellent financial acumen, with a thorough understanding of budget management and financial regulations.
  • Sound knowledge of property and procurement practices, including contract management and compliance.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build positive relationships both internally and externally.
