support, and assistance to promote independence.

Who are we looking for?
The post is in one of our Extra Care Schemes in Wrexham in a modern kitchen producing &
delivering the daily lunchtime meal to our 60 tenants in the scheme restaurant at this
Independent Living scheme for older people.

  • Substantial experience of working in a catering kitchen
  • A person who has an ability to contribute to a positive lunchtime experience
  • Can plan, prepare and lead a team of kitchen staff in the preparation, cooking and
serving of meals, whilst at the same time meeting the highest standards of hygiene
and cater to a variety of dietary requirements.

  • Will comply with Health and Safety, Fire Regulations and other policies
  • Ability to maintain our 5star hygiene rating score.
  • An ability to build relationships with staff and residents.
  • Keep accurate records and recording temperatures and use by dates as required by
the regulations.

  • Liaise with outside agencies i.e., Environmental Health Officers and suppliers to
ensure high standards of food hygiene and quality of supplies are maintained.

  • Organise and undertake on the job training for all kitchen staff to ensure high standards
of food hygiene and quality of supplies are maintained.

  • Can carry out regular checks of kitchen equipment e.g., mixers, fryer, utensils, work
surfaces in accordance with specified procedures to ensure all equipment is hygienic
and safe working order and complies with relevant regulations

Skills and Qualifications required for the role:

  • Level 3 Food Hygiene
  • Allergen Awareness certificate
  • Catering Qualification
  • Or, relevant catering experience.
  • Able to supervise staff
  • Ability to work precisely and effectively under pressure and to deadlines and have a
strong sense of purpose
