Job Description SummaryPost Sales support of customer issues.
Support customers' DP (Dynamic Positining) & marine automation systems with technical aspects of upgrades, trouble-shooting and advice.
To specify, design, implement and test software and component upgrade modifications for installation on site.Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

· Put together technical proposals for upgrades of legacy DP & automation systems hardware or for additional components and functionality.

· Telephone and email support, including recreation and investigation of problems, and proposals for solutions.

· Responsibility for estimating and planning of work to ensure budgets and timescales are met.

· Design of HMI mimics from customer documentation (e.g., piping & instrumentation diagrams).

· Produce functional design specifications, electrical wiring diagrams, cable schedules, test and installation specifications.

· Configure architecture, networks, PLCs, HMI for the DP/automation system.

· Application or development of engineering standards.

· Working within a multi-skilled team of engineers, technicians and/or test engineers.

· Liaison with other business units, customers, suppliers and sub-contractors.

· Will involve time working away from the office (mainly overseas) to support tenders, customer meetings, acceptance tests, commissioning and service contracts.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires advanced experience in Services & Technical Support. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

Desired Experience

  • Capturing customer requirements and writing technical specifications
    • Work with control & instrumentation
    • Design of automation systems hardware/software (SCADA/PLC/networks)
  • Programming PLCs (Ladder Diagram, Functional Block, Structured Text, ISaGRAF)
    • Data communication networks (Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, ControlNet, DeviceNet etc)
    • Good background in control systems (open loop / closed loop, PID loops)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
