Hobson Prior is seeking a Process Development Scientist/Engineer to join our Manufacturing Sciences and Technology team. This role will have a main focal point of developing processes for the manufacturing of novel gene therapies. This role requires a solid understanding of chemical and biological processes, and the ability to use experimental and computational tools to develop robust and scalable manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop processes for the recovery and purification of DNA and AAV.
  2. Scale up and transfer lab scale operations to in-house production facility.
  3. Continuously improve understanding and knowledge of operations to ensure process reproducibility and robustness.
  4. Support manufacturing operations with implementing new processes and troubleshooting activities.
  5. Drive innovation and challenge conventional assumptions.
  6. Use appropriate analytical tools to generate comprehensive data, improve process understanding and identify optimization opportunities.
Key Skills and Requirements:
  • Knowledge of engineering principles for scaling up and down of bioprocess operations.
  • Understanding of how to develop and optimise processes for the purification of biopharmaceutical products.
  • Understanding of GMP and QbD considerations in a large scale manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding and experience with statistical and modelling software and tools.
  • Understanding of in-process assays such as qPCR, ELISA, HPLC, plate-based spectrometric assays.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage change and motivate self and others.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills.
  • Professionalism and ability to handle pressure.
  • Innovative thinking and creativity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
