The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) is the clinical research delivery arm of the NHS.


The NIHR CRN operates nationally across England through a national co-ordinating centre and 15 local research networks in the NHS and other settings supporting research across all disease areas.


This role sits within the CRN East of England Study Support Service team based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals Foundation Trust, working from our offices in the city centre.


The CRN East of England Study Delivery Administrator is responsible for providing high quality administrative support for the business processes associated with the CRN East of England Study Support Service and support to management hubs.


You will provide:


The day to day administrative support to the CRN East of England Study Support Service, including arranging meetings and conferences, supporting the meeting Chair on taking forward actions points, ensuring good communications with committee and group members and the research community more widely.


Support for projects, and in some cases take responsibility for small projects, on behalf of the CRN East of England.


Work on a day to day basis within a local team but you will be required to liaise with colleagues in a wide range of groups and organisations, including the Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre (CRN CC).


Correspond regularly with the members of Specialty Groups, patient representatives and with clinicians and researchers conducting research in the NHS.


Due to the nature of this role you will be required to work without direct supervision on a day to day basis.

  • Liaise with investigators, research teams, senior managers and external bodies to arrange meetings and ensure actions are undertaken.
  • As a primary point of contact, you will respond to a wide range of often complex queries where you will need to adopt a problem solving approach to investigate underlying issues in order to find solutions. You will also need to liaise with colleagues from a variety of organisations to resolve issues.
  • Take responsibility for the collection, and forwarding, of information. Gather, understand and interpret evidence required for reports and projects.
  • Deal with challenging responses from Research Teams and understand complex information received and independently deal with it in a sensitive and appropriate manner. This will involve the post holder gathering information from a variety of sources, interpreting information and using their own judgement to respond.
  • Create tracking systems to ensure queries and responses are monitored and reminders sent to senior management team and/or NIHR CRNCC, where necessary. This will include the post holder managing an escalation process for nonresponse.
  • Collate information from tracking systems and populate national reports from this information in a manner that is appropriate for national audience. This information could be used in national meetings or to populate performance management reports.
