About Us
Harris Rainham Sixth Form will open its doors in September 2023 with 200 places for Year 12. We will have a capacity of 400 students, 200 in Year 12 and 200 in Year 13.

Our state-of-the-art building will be constructed on the same site as Harris Academy Rainham. We will provide a Level 3 curriculum offer, Including A level and vocational courses. We will work closely with Harris Academy Rainham, with whom we share a site. The two academies will be separate but will share staff, expertise and a common ethos.


I have been Principal at Harris Academy Rainham since September 2016 and it has been a great privilege to serve the community and our wonderful students.

We are delighted to finally be in a position to share our plans for the new Harris Rainham Sixth Form.

For too long Rainham students have had to travel to access high quality Post 16 education. This will no longer be the case.

The students of Rainham will now have an ambitious and highly aspirational sixth form that will enable our young people to access the best universities, apprenticeships and employment opportunities that exist.

We will ensure that Harris Rainham Sixth Form will be a fantastic new place of learning.

We have the support and backing of the Harris Federation, which has a track record in London education that is second to none.

Three-quarters of our secondary academies are rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, compared to just a fifth of schools nationally. We will also work closely with the outstanding Harris Chafford Hundred Sixth Form.

Main Areas of Responsibility

The general expectations of this role are:

  • To collaborate as a member of the Lead Practitioner Team in order to build and realise the shared vision of excellence and high standards for all students.
  • To account for students' performance in line with Academy procedures.
  • To provide the Governing Body with relevant and accurate information relating to the Faculty's performance and development.
  • To contribute actively towards the formulation of all Academy policies and procedures, ensuring their consistent implementation.
  • To ensure high quality teaching and learning in the Faculty or across the Academy.
  • To participate in duties at lunch, break, before, during and after school the Academy day.
  • To ensure that behaviour in the Faculty is exemplary.
  • To ensure that Schemes of Learning and Independent Work books are of a high quality.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, and, ideally, be able to show evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Demonstrate outstanding teaching practice and excellent behaviour management
  • Have experience of lesson observations and giving robust feedback
  • Have experience of improvement planning and of implementing a range of strategies to raise student achievement, with evidence of success
  • Be able to contribute to improving on the quality of learning and teaching and curriculum
  • Have a proven track record of excellent results at KS3 and 4, and, ideally, experience of teaching to KS
  • Have experience of high quality pupil tracking and feedback practices
  • Ideally, have experience of working with governors and of working in more than one school
