Arts and Wellbeing Projects Assistant

London, Greater London, United Kingdom Southbank Centre Full time

We are looking for an Arts and Wellbeing Projects Assistant to join our Creative Engagement department on a permanent, full-time basis.

Creative Engagement Team

The role sits within the Creative Engagement (CE) team which aims to find new and creative ways for schools, communities and individuals to engage with the Southbank Centre's artistic programme, collections and buildings through learning and participation opportunities, inspiring and supporting the next generation of artists and creatives. The CE department has three programme strands:

  • Arts and Wellbeing
  • Schools
  • Talent and Artist Development

In addition, both the National Poetry Library and the Southbank Centre Archive teams sit within the CE department with many collaborative programmes.

The Projects Assistant role will support the Creative Engagement Manager (Arts and Wellbeing) and Arts and Wellbeing Communities Coordinator in the administration and delivery of the Arts and Wellbeing programme. The programme is made up of multiple year-round projects and events which aim to nourish, comfort, and encourage connection and creativity in our local communities of Lambeth and Southwark. The Arts and Wellbeing Projects Assistant will be joining the team at an exciting juncture, whilst the team develops a new programme of creative activity and partnerships to support young people and their mental health.

Role Objectives

  • Support the Arts and Wellbeing team with the planning, research, administration and delivery of projects across the Arts and Wellbeing programme strand, working closely with other Southbank Centre teams.
  • To build meaningful relationships with our participants and partners and act as a key connector between our communities and the Southbank Centre.

DBS check:
At Southbank Centre we aim to provide safe participatory and creative opportunities for all the children and young people who take part in our programme and visit our site. As this role will require you to work closely with children and/or vulnerable adults, you would be required to apply for a DBS check if you were offered the role. This is in line with our Safeguarding Policy and is a key requirement of this role.

Southbank Centre

Southbank Centre is Europe's largest arts centre and one of the UK's top five visitor attractions, occupying an 11-acre site that sits in the midst of London's most vibrant cultural quarter on the South Bank of the Thames. The site has an extraordinary creative and architectural history stretching back to the 1951 Festival of Britain. Southbank Centre is made up of the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and Hayward Gallery as well as being home to the National Poetry Library and the Arts Council Collection. It is also home to six Resident Orchestras (Aurora Orchestra, Chineke Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Philharmonia Orchestra).

Our Artistic Mission

Southbank Centre exists to provide great artistic experiences for everyone. Through art, we invite our visitors to enjoy shared cultural encounters together. To gaze. To listen. To be moved.
